Why Visit Museumplein?
Museumplein is often described as the cultural heart of the Netherlands. This open square in Amsterdam South brings together three of Europe's most celebrated museums within walking distance of each other: the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art.
Beyond the museums, the square itself offers a vibrant atmosphere throughout the year. In summer, locals and tourists gather on the grass for picnics. In winter, an ice rink appears in front of the Rijksmuseum. The nearby Concertgebouw concert hall adds to the cultural richness of the area.
