About Museumplein Amsterdam Guide
Independent. Honest. Updated regularly.
Who We Are
Museumplein Amsterdam Guide is an independent travel resource created by a small team of Amsterdam-based culture enthusiasts. We started this project because we found it difficult to find reliable, consolidated information about the museums on Museumplein in one place.
Our team visits the museums regularly to verify opening hours, ticket prices and exhibition schedules. We write from personal experience and aim to provide practical, honest recommendations that help visitors make the most of their time at Museumplein.
Our Mission
We believe that planning a museum visit should be straightforward. Our goal is to provide clear, accurate and up-to-date information about the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum so that every visitor can have the best possible experience.
This means keeping our content updated as prices and hours change, writing honestly about what to expect, and structuring information in a way that answers the questions real visitors have.
Independence
This website is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any museum or cultural institution. We do not accept sponsored content, paid reviews or commission-based recommendations. The information and opinions presented on this site are entirely our own.
If you notice any information that is outdated or inaccurate, we welcome corrections. Please reach out through our contact page.
How We Work
Every article on this site is based on first-hand museum visits. Before publishing, we cross-reference our information with official museum websites and local tourism resources. We aim to update all guides at least quarterly, with more frequent updates when significant changes occur (such as new exhibitions, price changes or schedule adjustments).
We use photography only from public domain or Creative Commons licensed sources, primarily from Wikimedia Commons.
About Amsterdam's Museumplein
Museumplein (Museum Square) has been the cultural heart of Amsterdam since the late 19th century. The square was originally developed alongside the Rijksmuseum, which opened in 1885, and the Concertgebouw concert hall. Over the decades, the Van Gogh Museum (1973) and the Stedelijk Museum joined to create one of Europe's most concentrated cultural districts.
Today, Museumplein welcomes millions of visitors each year and serves as both a tourist destination and a beloved gathering place for locals. From summer picnics to winter ice skating, the square is a vibrant part of Amsterdam life throughout the year.
